Closing Reception for OUR BODIES OURSELVES
Wednesday, April 10, 6 – 7 pm

Come experience your body as a medium for expression with dancer and artist Annie Sailer.

Moving as a group we will become physically present in our bodies through a simple, gentle warm up emphasizing release of tight muscles, joint mobility, and moving within your natural range.  From there, we will explore a series of structured improvisations utilizing every day movements and gestures (walking, sitting, lying down, standing up, waving, turning your head, shaking a body part, being still, etc.) generated by imagery, our deeper selves, and our responses to each other and the space we occupy. Through this process we will create forms; abstract, narrative, and personal.

This workshop is free!!

All adults welcome. No movement experience required.

Please wear comfortable clothes you can move easily in and bring layers. Secure your hair out of your eyes. Have bare feet or sneakers if necessary.

Annie Sailer lives in New Haven. She is an artist, dancer, choreographer, and director of ANNIE SAILER DANCE COMPANY. Annie paints and build found-object installations out of her Erector Square Studio, teaches modern dance classes at Your Community Yoga Center, and rehearses with ASDC in NYC and New Haven.
