The Ely Center of Contemporary Art presents ECOCA Happy Hour — a time to bond with other members of the community while enjoying alcoholic & non-alcoholic brews alike! Each Thursday from 5 - 6 pm, ECOCA will be hosting a themed happy hour over the Zoom platform, complete with recipes for beverages to make at home; this week’s theme is Grateful for April, so we invite you to share your happiest moments from this month, despite current difficult circumstances.

Debuting on the Ely Center of Contemporary Art Instagram and Facebook on Wednesdays at 4 pm, ECOCA offers the platform for creatives to show their studio spaces and speak about current projects. This week (4/29), join New York artist Manju Shandler in her studio, and learn about what she is currently working on!

The Ely Center of Contemporary Art presents Sunday Critique — a time for creatives to come forward and share their artworks with other participating artists for feedback and inspiration alike.

Sunday Critique will be held virtually on Zoom each Sunday at 3 pm, and will be lead by an artist from the community on a specific topic or medium that they excel within. This week, multimedia artist Noelle Herceg will lead the critique.

Each Thursday from 5 - 6 pm, ECOCA will be hosting a themed happy hour over the Zoom platform, complete with recipes for beverages to make at home; this week’s theme is Earth Day Special, so join us as we celebrate Earth Day and share ways to better appreciate our environment!

EVENT CANCELLED

With reflection on recent news and COVID-19, we are doing our part to help keep the communities we support safe and healthy at this incredibly challenging time by following the Center for Disease Control's recommendations as well as the State of Connecticut Health Department regarding preparedness and prevention of COVID-19. As a result, we unfortunately must cancel our closing reception for Witchy/Extra Human on April 19.

Join us for the closing reception of Witchy, an unjuried exhibition with work that addresses issues of ritual, magic, power, and how these concepts inform ideas about equity, health, spirituality, identity, and community. Can magic, then, be understood as a different type of power, a way to combat political power that threatens many of our communities?

Annie Sailer Dance Company will perform a new work choreographed by Annie Sailer titled “magic thing” in conjunction with the exhibition of her assemblage installation, bluejean project: magic thing 1.
